Fukushima 50

“In the darkest hours, courage prevails.”

The earthquake and the tsunami behind it have already struck when the film begins, and the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant is failing in ways no one in the control room has a procedure for. Plant manager Masao Yoshida (Ken Watanabe) and shift supervisor Toshio Izaki (Koichi Sato) stay at their posts while others are told to leave. Setsuro Wakamatsu, adapting Ryusho Kadota's book, keeps the camera in the cramped control room with the men who stayed.
