Furlough

“There are pros and cons to every friendship.”

A prison inmate gets one emergency furlough to see her dying mother, and the officer sent along to watch her is a rookie. Nicole Stevens (Tessa Thompson) is that guard, a young woman who splits her days between the prison job and caring for her own mother. Laurie Collyer sets Nicole beside the hell-raising Joan Anderson (Melissa Leo) for a road trip, two women with sick mothers and every reason to keep their distance.
