Gabrielle

Jean Hervey (Pascal Greggory), a wealthy and self-satisfied writer, comes home one evening to find that his wife has left him for another man. Then Gabrielle (Isabelle Huppert) walks back in, and the two of them begin picking their marriage apart, piece by piece, with no mercy for either side. Patrice Chéreau, adapting Joseph Conrad's story "The Return," leaves them in the house with the door shut behind her.
