“Your imagination is the final destination”

Tetsuro Hoshino (Masako Nozawa) is an orphaned boy in a future where the rich can trade their bodies for machine ones and live forever. He wants a cyborg body of his own to avenge his mother's death, and the only way there is the space train Galaxy Express 999, which he boards with Maetel (Masako Ikeda), a woman who looks exactly like his dead mother. Rintaro keeps the film circling what a body is worth and what a person gives up to keep one forever.
