“Civilization is in chaos...”

In 1968 Japan, two Boy Scouts, Masao (Tôru Takatsuka) and his friend Jim (Carl Craig), take a mini-submarine out without permission, right as alien invaders move to take over the Earth. They soon find Gamera nearby, and then they are pulled aboard the aliens' spaceship, where Viras, a squid-like creature that can grow to colossal size, waits. Noriaki Yuasa keeps the two boys at the center, small and scared and still looking for a way to help.
