Gangs of New York

“America was born in the streets.”

Amsterdam Vallon (Leonardo DiCaprio) wants revenge on Bill "The Butcher" Cutting (Daniel Day-Lewis), the gang leader who killed his father and rules lower Manhattan with an iron fist. Years later, Amsterdam returns to the Five Points slum to infiltrate Cutting's gang and settle the debt. Scorsese builds the film across decades of rising violence, showing how the hunger for vengeance binds a man to the very world he wants to destroy.
