“Some marriages are made in Heaven. Others are made in Hell.”

Dr. Hess Green (Duane Jones) is an anthropologist, wealthy and well read, who studies the ancient culture of Myrthia. His assistant George Meda (Bill Gunn) is brilliant and unstable, and he stabs Hess with a cursed dagger, leaving him with a hunger for blood. Gunn shoots it grainy and slow, with the hypnotic drift of a long dream.
