Garbo Talks

“Sometimes you can catch a star...”

In 1984 New York, accountant Gilbert Rolfe (Ron Silver) learns that his mother, Estelle (Anne Bancroft), has a brain tumor. Estelle has one last wish, to meet Greta Garbo, and Gilbert starts combing the city's streets for the reclusive star while his wife Lisa (Carrie Fisher) watches the search eat into their marriage. Sidney Lumet makes a comedy of a son's errand, and the film shows how far a child will go for a parent.
