Gardens of Stone

“The story of the war at home, and the people who lived through it.”

Every week at Arlington National Cemetery, Sgt. Clell Hazard (James Caan) buries soldiers sent home from a war the country is still arguing about. He has fought in Vietnam already and drills the honor guard instead, until Jackie Willow (D. B. Sweeney), the idealistic son of a fallen comrade, arrives wanting to go over there himself. Francis Ford Coppola sets the story among the white headstones, where Hazard stands in his dress uniform and watches the rows.
