Gardens of the Night

San Diego is where two children are taken in 1996, and a decade later the girl, now a teenager named Leslie (Gillian Jacobs), is sleeping on the streets alongside a boy who was taken with her. Damian Harris keeps the focus on the two of them, on the hunger and the cold and the people who offer shelter with a price attached. Their long abuse has left them with only each other, and the film is about what that closeness is worth.
