Gate of Flesh

Shintaro Ibuki (Joe Shishido) is a renegade ex-soldier who stumbles into a band of prostitutes in the black markets and bombed-out hovels of post-war Tokyo. Maya (Yumiko Nogawa) and the women around her keep up fragile friendships and a rough order of their own, and he arrives in the middle of it. Seijun Suzuki floods the ruins with bright color, and Ibuki finds that wanting a place among them puts him at odds with everyone he meets.
