Gates of the Night

Georges (Pierre Brasseur) wants only to find his feet again in post-Liberation Paris, and a reunion with an old friend, Jean Diego (Yves Montand), puts him back on the city's streets. There he meets Malou (Nathalie Nattier), the woman he has been dreaming of, and learns what her brother left behind. Marcel Carné and his writer Jacques Prévert fill the film with people who cannot leave the past where it was.
