Get on the Bus
“On October 16, 1996, the one year anniversary of the Million Man March, Spike Lee invites you to lift your head, raise your voice, and...get on the bus.”
Fifteen Black men board a bus in South Central LA in October 1995, bound for the Million Man March in Washington, DC. Among them are a laid-off aircraft worker, a former gangsta, a Black Republican, and Evan Thomas, Sr. (Thomas Jefferson Byrd), who has his at-risk son Smooth (De'Aundre Bonds) handcuffed to him. Spike Lee fills the aisles with argument over manhood, religion and race, and the men have a long road to cover before anyone agrees on why they are going.
