Marcus (50 Cent) sells drugs on the streets of New York and wants out, with rap as the only way he can see to get there. Jim Sheridan follows him through the crew he runs with, including Majestic (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), a dealer who sits above him in the neighborhood's pecking order. Marcus's closest tie is Charlene (Joy Bryant), the woman who watches him go back and forth between the corner and the microphone.
