“The odds are against him. So is everyone else.”

A career criminal in a getaway car is caught at the Mexican border, and the Mexican authorities send him to El Pueblito, a crowded prison that works more like a walled town than a cell block. Driver (Mel Gibson) has no allies there, until a 9-year-old known as Kid (Kevin Hernandez) shows him how things run inside. Adrian Grünberg, who co-wrote the script with Gibson, shoots the place in bleached sun and tight corridors, with no room to step away.
