Ghost in the Shell

“There's nothing sadder than a puppet without a ghost.”

Major Mira Killian (Scarlett Johansson), a cyborg supersoldier, wants to know who she was before her consciousness was uploaded into an artificial body. She hunts a hacker named Kuze (Michael Pitt) whose motives remain obscure, but the closer she gets to him, the more her own past surfaces as fabrication. Sanders frames the neon sprawl of this future city in clean, symmetrical compositions, letting the chrome and glass hold the weight of each image.
