Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig), a physicist, reconnects with Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy) when a ghost materializes in a Manhattan library. They team up with engineer Jillian Holtzmann (Kate McKinnon) and subway worker Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones) to start a ghost-catching business, armed with unlicensed equipment and pure determination. Feig orchestrates the chaos with a loose energy that lets the four of them riff and build on each other's timing.
