“Watch out Brigitte...here comes Gidget!”

A girl too small for her friends' taste in boys goes into the ocean one afternoon, has an accident in the water, and comes out of it knowing the surfer Moondoggie (James Darren) and the whole beach clique around him. Francis (Sandra Dee) wants in, so the group teaches her to surf and gives her a new name: Gidget. Paul Wendkos shoots it in CinemaScope, with the sea and the sand spread wide across the frame.
