Girl with a Pearl Earring

Griet (Scarlett Johansson), a young peasant, goes to work as a maid in the Delft household of the painter Johannes Vermeer (Colin Firth) in the 1660s. Peter Webber lets her slowly become his assistant, grinding pigments and cleaning the studio he keeps closed to the rest of the house. By the end, the film settles on her face, a girl turning toward the painter while light from the window falls on her.
