“In music she found her dream, her love, herself.”

Billie Frank (Mariah Carey) dances in clubs and sings backup alongside her friends Louise (Da Brat) and Roxanne (Tia Texada), hoping for a real break. A producer signs the three of them, and at the premiere of the song they record, Billie meets Julian "Dice" Black (Max Beesley), a nightclub DJ with the connections to launch her on her own. Vondie Curtis-Hall follows the two of them as the work brings them close and they fall in love.
