Glory

“Their innocence. Their heritage. Their lives.”

Colonel Robert Gould Shaw (Matthew Broderick) takes command of the 54th Massachusetts, the Union's first all-black volunteer regiment, and starts drilling men that his own army expects to fail. Edward Zwick follows the recruits through camp as they face contempt from the Union side and a harder enemy across the lines. Shaw's bond with Sergeant Major Rawlins (Morgan Freeman) and the furious Private Trip (Denzel Washington) is where the regiment's weight rests.
