Bob Hightower (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), a vice detective, walks into his ex-wife's house and finds her murdered and their daughter taken by a cult. When the official investigations stall, he quits the force and goes after the cult's leader himself, guided by Case Hardin (Maika Monroe), a woman who escaped them. Nick Cassavetes follows the pair in, with the two of them blurring into the cult's own ranks.
