Godard's Passion

“There are no rules.”

Jerzy (Jerzy Radziwiłowicz), a Polish director, is making a film in a studio that is built, painting by painting, out of famous canvases, and he cannot settle on how to light any of them. Jean-Luc Godard follows him as he turns toward Isabelle (Isabelle Huppert), a young factory worker laid off by a boss who disliked her union activities. Laszlo (Szabó László) and Hanna (Hanna Schygulla) wait on the set while Isabelle stands in the factory doorway.
