Gods of the Plague

Franz (Harry Baer) walks out of prison wanting what he had before, a place in the Munich underworld. He drifts between two women, Joanna (Hanna Schygulla), who sings in a bar, and Margarethe (Margarethe von Trotta), while Günther, the friend who shot his brother, stays close. Fassbinder shoots it in black and white, with people who keep reaching for each other and keep failing to say what they need.
