God's Own Country

Johnny Saxby (Josh O'Connor) runs his family's sheep farm in rural Yorkshire, and he copes with the work by drinking hard and having sex with strangers. His father Martin (Ian Hart) is ill, his grandmother does the managing, and Johnny's days are muddy, cold and joyless until the Romanian farmhand Gheorghe (Alec Secăreanu) arrives. Francis Lee keeps the camera close to the animals, the weather and the men's hands, and he lets the quiet stretches run.
