Goin' South

(1978)Directed by Jack Nicholson109 min · PGComedy, Western, Romance
“In 1868 Longhorn Texas, a convicted outlaw had two choices: get hung, or get married.”

A posse drags Henry Moon (Jack Nicholson) back to a small town after his horse gives out on the ride to Mexico, and the gallows are waiting. An old post-Civil War law offers one way off the rope: any single or widowed woman can claim him as her husband. Jack Nicholson also directs, and Henry, a man used to taking what he wants, has to wait on the answer of Julia Tate (Mary Steenburgen).
