Gold Diggers of 1937

(1936)Directed by Lloyd Bacon101 minComedy, Romance, Music
“COME ON AND CHEER IT'S A "GOLD DIGGERS" YEAR!”

Rosmer Peck (Dick Powell) works for an insurance company and wants to talk J. J. Hobart (Victor Moore), a stage producer, into buying a policy on his life. Hobart's partners have already gambled away the money for his new show, so they enlist a gold-digging chorus girl to help them con the very company Rosmer represents. Lloyd Bacon's film, with Busby Berkeley staging the musical numbers, is about getting a show on its feet when nobody has the cash to pay for it.
