Goodbye, Columbus
“Every father's daughter is a virgin.”
Neil Klugman (Richard Benjamin) is a Jewish librarian, less tied to his family than most, who meets Brenda Patimkin (Ali MacGraw), a young woman wholly wrapped up in her parents' world. Larry Peerce follows the affair that starts between them, and each visit to her family's house shows how far apart their lives sit. The film treats first love as a feeling that has to survive the families and the money behind it.
