Goodnight, Mister Tom

Tom Oakley (John Thaw) is a reclusive widower in a rural English village, and he did not ask for company. When the war sends a shy, quiet evacuee named William Beech (Nick Robinson) to his door, the old man is gruff about it. Jack Gold, in his last film, keeps the two of them in the same small house, the boy still carrying his bruises and the two of them slowly learning to talk.
