Ghost stories are meant to be told as a game at Byron's estate on Lake Geneva, but the tales begin to leave the room. Ken Russell gathers Lord Byron (Gabriel Byrne), Percy Shelley (Julian Sands) and Mary Shelley (Natasha Richardson) for a night of laudanum and invented horrors, with Claire Clairmont (Myriam Cyr) and Dr. Polidori (Timothy Spall) among them. Mary and Byron keep circling each other across the table while the house closes in.
