Government Woman

Nobody in Midyat can say how it happened, but Xate Nuroğlu (Demet Akbağ), an illiterate woman with eight children at her heels, wakes up as the town's new mayor. Her husband Aziz Veysel (Ercan Kesal) held the job until now, and she treats the office like her kitchen. Sermiyan Midyat, who also plays Faruk Doğu, puts Xate at the center of every municipal squabble, and she sorts it out the way she sorts out her kids.
