Grand Hotel

(1932)Directed by Edmund Goulding112 minDrama, Romance
“Thank the stars for a great entertainment!”

Nobody in this posh Berlin hotel is quite what the front desk assumes, and the strangers passing through its lobby are carrying more than their luggage. Grusinskaya (Greta Garbo) and Baron Felix von Gaigern (John Barrymore) share the building with Flämmchen (Joan Crawford) and Preysing (Wallace Beery), each with a worry or a scandal. Edmund Goulding keeps them circling through the same doors and corridors, and the hotel carries on around them.
