Rangoon, 1917. Edward (Gonçalo Waddington), a civil servant of the British Empire, learns that his fiancée Molly (Crista Alfaiate) has arrived to marry him, and he boards a train out of the city instead. She follows across Asia, amused rather than wounded, a few steps behind him. Miguel Gomes drew the story from a passage in Somerset Maugham and tells it as a long journey.
