James Eastman (William Smith) is the son of a vampire and a living woman, a child born wanting only blood, and he has grown up hunting for the one who made him. That man is Caleb Croft (Michael Pataki), a vampire awake again and hungry for blood and flesh. John Hayes, adapting David Chase's novel The Still Life, shoots it in the grain and flat light of a low-budget 1972 horror picture.
