“Don't let go.”

Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock), a medical engineer on her first spacewalk, wants to finish her job and go home. Debris from a satellite collision tears through her shuttle, killing her crewmate Matt Kowalski (George Clooney) and leaving her stranded in the dark with a failed radio and limited oxygen. Cuarón shoots the void in long, silent takes, spinning the camera to match Stone's tumble through space, until the only sound left is her breathing.
