Grbavica: The Land of My Dreams

“A mother. A daughter. A past that cannot stay buried.”

Esma (Mirjana Karanović) is scraping together money in postwar Sarajevo to pay for her daughter Sara's school trip, working whatever jobs she can find. Sara (Luna Mijović) is a restless teenager who wants the trip badly and keeps asking questions her mother won't answer. Jasmila Žbanić builds the film around what the two of them hold back from each other, in a flat the war has left half-empty.
