Greased Lightning

(1977)Directed by Michael Schultz96 min · PGAction, Comedy, Drama
“He drove 'em wild!”

Wendell Scott (Richard Pryor) drives moonshine for a living and wants to race stock cars, a sport that has never put a Black driver on its tracks. With Hutch (Beau Bridges) in his corner and Peewee (Cleavon Little) in the pits, he takes on the sport's officials, rival drivers and a Southern sheriff (Vincent Gardenia) who has no use for him. Michael Schultz, working from a true story, keeps the racing loud and fast and gives Pryor room to be funny.
