How does a Southerner come to own a Denver hotel after a single card game? That is the question Owen Pentecost (Robert Stack) carries into 1860s Denver, just as the Civil War leaves him one of a few Confederates in a Union town. Jacques Tourneur shot it in Technicolor, and Owen is pulled between two women, Ann Merry Alaine (Virginia Mayo) and Boston Grant (Ruth Roman).
