Guilty by Suspicion

“All it took was a whisper”

David Merrill (Robert De Niro) is a successful Hollywood director who comes back from a trip to find his name tied to the communist parties the House Un-American Activities Committee is chasing. Irwin Winkler, in his first film as director, follows the studio doors closing one by one, with his ex-wife Ruth (Annette Bening) still in his corner. The film stays with Merrill in the rooms where he once worked, and the work is no longer there.
