Guys and Dolls

(1955)Directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz149 minComedy, Crime, Romance
“It's a living breathing doll of a musical!”

Sky Masterson (Marlon Brando) is a New York gambler who will take a bet on nearly anything, and Nathan Detroit (Frank Sinatra) dares him to take Sarah Brown (Jean Simmons), a Salvation Army missionary, to dinner in Havana. Joseph L. Mankiewicz adapts the Broadway musical, and the bet carries a motive Sky does not know about. Brando stands in his gambler's suit, the bet already made, while Simmons watches him in her mission-bonnet uniform.
