Hacksaw Ridge

Desmond Doss (Andrew Garfield) is a Seventh-day Adventist who enlists as a medic in World War II, but refuses to carry a rifle or kill. His platoon sergeant (Vince Vaughn) and fellow soldiers see him as a coward and a liability when they deploy to Okinawa. At Hacksaw Ridge, a shattered escarpment where Japanese forces are dug in, Doss crawls between the wounded under fire, lowering each man he saves down the cliff face on a rope.
