Hamlet

(1990)Directed by Franco Zeffirelli130 min · PGDrama, History
“The extraordinary adaptation of Shakespeare's classic tale of vengeance and tragedy.”

Hamlet (Mel Gibson), Prince of Denmark, comes home to a father in the ground and a mother, Gertrude (Glenn Close), already married to his uncle Claudius (Alan Bates). Then the Ghost (Paul Scofield) tells him Claudius murdered the old king to take the throne, and Hamlet sets out to repay it. Franco Zeffirelli plays him as a grieving son whose rage and sorrow share a body, and Hamlet carries both everywhere.
