Hanezu
Takumi (Tôta Komizu) is a woodworker who has settled in the village of Asuka in Nara Prefecture, where he restores old houses and lives close to the land. He meets Kayoko (Hako Ohshima), a woman from his old school who dyes scarves in hanezu, the crimson named in an eighth-century poem. Naomi Kawase sets their story in present-day Asuka, where Kayoko lives with her boyfriend Tetsuya (Tetsuya Akikawa), and the pull between her and Takumi begins to show.
