Hang 'em High

“The hanging was the best show in town. But they made two mistakes. They hung the wrong man and they didn't finish the job!”

In the Oklahoma territory of 1889, rancher Jed Cooper (Clint Eastwood) is strung up from a tree by a posse that has taken him for a cattle thief. He survives, and Judge Adam Fenton (Pat Hingle) hands him a deputy marshal's badge, which puts him in a position to hunt the men who hanged him. Ted Post sets the story where the law is thin and a rope is quick, and the film is about how close justice and revenge can sit.
