Weeks before a presidential election, a satellite collides with an unidentified object during a Space Shuttle mission, and the craft comes down in the Arizona desert. The White House denies it exists and locks it away in Hangar 18, then blames the crash on the astronauts, Steve Bancroft (Gary Collins) and Lew Price (James Hampton). James L. Conway follows the two men as they try to find the ship, with Gordon Cain (Robert Vaughn) working to keep it buried.
