Hanging Garden

“If you stick to your story, it stops being a lie. When you get obsessed, you shut out reality.”

Eriko Kyobashi (Kyoko Koizumi) wants the family in her house to look like the happy one she has told everyone it is. The Kyobashis keep a house rule that nobody hides anything when asked a question directly, and every person under the roof, including her husband Takashi (Itsuji Itao), knows how little of that is true. Toshiaki Toyoda adapts Mitsuyo Kakuta's novel and keeps the camera close to a family that cannot stop watching one another.
