Michael Jordon (Gene Wilder) is a naive man with no connection to government business, until a girl carrying a mysterious package climbs into his taxi. When she is later murdered, he becomes the chief suspect and runs, with Kate Hellman (Gilda Radner) among the people he meets along the way. Sidney Poitier keeps the comedy and the chase going together, on the idea that an innocent man can be tangled in secrets he never knew existed.
