Helen Carpenter (Ellie Kemper), a schoolteacher newly divorced, wants a fresh start and a chance at love, so she signs up for a grueling group hiking trip. The other hikers include Jake (Luke Grimes) and Hugh (Nico Santos), and she has no idea what she's gotten into. Vicky Wight adapts Katherine Center's 2015 novel and keeps the tone light and friendly from the first trailhead to the last.
