Happy as Lazzaro

Lazzaro (Adriano Tardiolo) is a young sharecropper in rural Italy who does whatever anyone asks of him and never seems to mind. His days of labor on the marquise's land are brightened by an unlikely friendship with her son, Tancredi (Luke Chikovani). Alice Rohrwacher builds the story around Lazzaro's goodness, which the people around him keep taking for granted.
