Happy-Go-Lucky

“The one movie this fall that will put a smile on your face.”

Poppy Cross (Sally Hawkins) is a primary school teacher in North London who laughs at things other people let pass, and she cannot be talked out of it. Mike Leigh follows her through a few ordinary chapters, with a flatmate (Alexis Zegerman) beside her and a tightly wound driving instructor, Scott (Eddie Marsan), in the passenger seat. Poppy keeps her good mood up in front of people who resent it, and she is never sure it will win them over.
